Who We Are
Open Gate Foundation is a nonprofit movement rooted in Kenya and rising across Africa. We bring together grassroots groups, survivor-led networks, and community-driven initiatives to transform development from the ground up.
We believe that the people most affected by challenges are also those best placed to design solutions. That’s why our programs and priorities are set not in boardrooms, but in communities—by youth, women, persons with disabilities, climate-affected groups, and human rights defenders.
Our Mission
Open Gate Foundation’s sole mission is to equip Communities for sustainable development and empowerment of Grassroots community- led Organizations in Africa to participate in effective transformation of Society. The Foundation advocates for strong values and aim to develop programs with charitable causes and that are Consistent with Community Structures and Institution.
Our Vision
We aspire to be a leading Development organization that fosters dignity, resilience, and community well-being. Grounded in values of compassion, equity, and stewardship, we offer reliable, sustainable, and empowering safety nets for marginalized populations across Kenya and beyond.
Implement survivor-led programs across key sectors
- Support autonomous councils with co-branded identity
- Offer fiscal sponsorship and legal compliance
- Strengthen onboarding, governance, and donor communication
- Build partnerships rooted in transparency and shared impact
We are not a single-issue or faith-based organization. Our model centers autonomy, clarity, and survivor-led governance — creating space for diverse leadership across Africa.
Our Values
Community First – Solutions must come from those closest to the challenge
Dignity & Justice – Every human being deserves respect, equity, and rights
Collaboration – We partner across public, private, and social sectors
Autonomy – Local groups set their own priorities; we safeguard independence

How We Organize

- Community Networks – County-level associations that coordinate Circles, manage programs, and advocate for local priorities
