Open Gate Foundation brings together public benefit programs, grassroots initiatives, community alliances, voluntary advisory spaces, and strategic partners to strengthen locally led solutions to inequality, exclusion, and injustice.
We believe lasting change does not come from one organization working alone. It grows when communities, movements, institutions, and leaders have the relationships, resources, knowledge, and freedom they need to lead.

Open Gate Foundation is a women-led, community-rooted organization working at the intersection of community leadership, social justice, inclusion, and systems change. Our ecosystem creates different pathways through which people and organizations can lead, participate, collaborate, learn, access resources, and contribute to change.
OGF works across a range of interconnected thematic areas and community priorities. Our work responds to the realities and priorities identified by the communities we serve, and may evolve as new needs, opportunities, and forms of exclusion emerge.
Some initiatives are directly led and managed by OGF. Others are grassroots initiatives that receive institutional or fiscal support. Independent organizations collaborate through the OGF Community Alliance, while the OGF Autonomous Council provides a voluntary advisory space where community leaders, people with lived experience, practitioners, and other trusted voices can offer perspective and guidance. Around these pathways are strategic partners, networks, researchers, institutions, media, funders, and technical allies who contribute complementary knowledge, resources, relationships, and expertise.

OGF Programs are initiatives directly designed, coordinated, implemented, or managed within Open Gate Foundation's program framework. They allow OGF to work directly with communities while maintaining clear standards for safeguarding, accountability, learning, financial stewardship, and responsible implementation.

We strengthen confidence, leadership, rights awareness, civic participation, and opportunities to shape decisions affecting their lives and communities.

Our Approach — Mission-Led. Community-Rooted. Purpose-Driven. Innovation at OGF starts with real needs and locally identified opportunities. All innovation and enterprise activities are developed within OGF's public-benefit purposes and applicable legal, governance, financial, and tax requirements.
Incubation & Fiscal Sponsorship
Some of the most important solutions already exist within communities. OGF provides selected grassroots initiatives with practical institutional support that can help them strengthen their systems, access opportunities, manage resources responsibly, and grow sustainably. Support is shaped around the needs and stage of each initiative.

Fiscal Sponsorship Is Partnership — Not Ownership. Fiscal sponsorship provides an institutional relationship through which OGF may provide agreed financial, administrative, compliance, and organizational support to an independent initiative. Community leadership remains at the centre. Fiscally sponsored initiatives retain their own identity and leadership, subject to the responsibilities and terms established through the relevant sponsorship arrangement.
We feature only organizations and initiatives with a formally established fiscal sponsorship or hosting relationship with OGF — this helps ensure clarity for communities, partners, funders, and the initiatives themselves.

The OGF Community Alliance connects grassroots organizations, community groups, women-led initiatives, youth organizations, disability organizations, survivor-led initiatives, and other local actors around shared priorities. It is a space to connect, learn from one another, collaborate, and strengthen community-led action.
Being part of the Community Alliance does not mean that an organization is owned, managed, or fiscally sponsored by OGF. Each organization retains its own identity, leadership, governance, and independence.

OGF Autonomous Council
The OGF Autonomous Council creates space for community leaders, people with lived experience, thematic practitioners, elders, and trusted voices to contribute perspective and guidance to the OGF ecosystem. The Council is voluntary and advisory — it is not a statutory board, executive management body, or financial authority of OGF, and it does not replace OGF's formal governance structures.

How the Council relates to OGF: Council participation does not confer executive management authority or statutory governance powers. OGF's formal governance, management, financial oversight, and legal responsibilities remain with its appropriately constituted structures. The Council offers voice and guidance — OGF's formal governance structures remain responsible for governance and management.
