Able Pathways Alliance

“Where Ability Finds Opportunity”

Who We Are

Able Pathway Alliance is a disability-led, grassroots-driven organization working to dismantle systemic barriers and foster inclusive, accessible communities throughout Kenya. We are powered by the lived experiences of persons with disabilities, and we champion rights, dignity, and opportunity for all.

Founded on the belief that accessibility is a human right, we empower individuals and communities through advocacy, leadership training, economic empowerment, and systems change.

Our Vision

A society where all pathways are open to every ability.

Our Mission

To empower disability-led action through policy reform, inclusive leadership, and grassroots transformation.

Our Core Values

Dignity – We uphold the inherent worth of every human being.
Equity – We demand fairness in systems, structures, and access.
Resilience – We rise with strength in the face of adversity.
Solidarity – We move together, never leaving anyone behind.

What We Do

Able Pathway Alliance offers a holistic, intersectional approach to disability inclusion. Our work spans across key thematic areas:

Inclusive Rights & Leadership Training
Community Accessibility Audits
SILC-Based Economic Empowerment
Survivor-Led Leadership Forums
Policy & Systems Advocacy

Our Approach

We use a participatory, intersectional, and inclusive lens, centering the voices of women, youth, and rural persons with disabilities. Our strategies include grassroots mobilization, capacity building, storytelling for advocacy, policy dialogue & shadow reporting, and monitoring tools.

Our Team

Our leadership includes persons with disabilities, caregivers, advocates, and professionals in inclusive education, law, health, and social work. As a disability-led organization, nothing about us is without us.

Our Partners

We work with community organizations, governments, faith networks, development partners, and disability federations.

Why We Exist

In Kenya:
• Less than 10% of public buildings are fully accessible
• Persons with disabilities are twice as likely to live in poverty
• Social stigma and discrimination remain rampant
• Youth with disabilities are often excluded from civic and economic life
