Directly implemented programs
Strategic interventions led by Open Gate Foundation to Fill urgent gaps and transformative models
While most of our work is led by autonomous member\Units and fiscally sponsored partners, Open Gate Foundation also directly implements select programs in high-risk or underserved areas. These initiatives respond to urgent needs, test new approaches, and build bridges where no infrastructure yet exists.
Every direct program is designed in close consultation with survivors, community leaders, and faith-based allies—ensuring dignity, relevance, and long-term sustainability.
What we implement direclty
We step in when:
Communities face displacement, trauma, or systemic neglect
Local organizations need time or support to build capacity
New models require testing before scaling
Urgent gaps threaten the safety or dignity of vulnerable groups
Ovc projects require our central support and coordination
Our goal is never to dominate—but to serve, steward, and eventually step back. Whenever possible, we transition these programs to council leadership or grassroots partners.

Four Interconnected Pathways to Justice and Leadership
We advance women’s leadership and rights by addressing the structural barriers that hold them back. Across all our pathways, women are not just participants—they lead in design, implementation, and governance.
- Women & Climate Justice
Leading the Green Revolution. We support women at the forefront of climate adaptation, environmental stewardship, and the creation of sustainable livelihoods. From the Upper Tana Basin to the coast, we ensure women’s voices shape climate policy.
- Focus: Climate adaptation, Sustainable farming, Natural resource management.
- Girls & Young Women’s Leadership
Cultivating the Next Generation. We are building a pipeline of feminist leaders by strengthening their voices, civic participation, and digital literacy. We bridge the generational gap to ensure young women lead today, not just tomorrow.
- Focus: Civic tech, Mentorship, Digital rights, Policy advocacy.
- Women, Justice & Survivor Leadership
Centering Lived Experience. We move beyond traditional aid to build survivor-centered justice systems. By creating robust accountability frameworks, we ensure that justice is accessible, dignified, and transformative for all survivors.
- Focus: Legal reform, Survivor advocacy, Institutional accountability.
- Women & Inclusive Development
Ensuring No One is Left Behind. True development must be equitable. We champion disability justice and the removal of systemic barriers to ensure that women with disabilities are centered in every development agenda.
- Focus: Disability rights, Economic equity, Inclusive policy design.
Transition to Community Ownership
We believe in building with, not for. That’s why every direct program includes a transition plan—moving leadership to councils, sponsored CBOs, or local coalitions. This ensures sustainability, accountability, and survivor-led governance.
