Our Model
One Mission. Three Paths. Shared Power.
Open Gate Foundation (OGF) Kenya, we believe sustainable change requires more than charity — it requires a deliberate shift in power.
Our Tri-Fold Model ensures that survivors, women, and grassroots leaders are not beneficiaries of change — they are architects of it.
We work through three interconnected arms:
- Direct Programs
The Doing Arm — Impact on the Frontlines
We design and implement high-impact programs that respond to both immediate needs and long-term systemic change. OGF manages these initiatives directly to ensure professional service delivery, accountability, and measurable results.
Our Focus Areas
Climate Resilience & SILC
Empowering women through green livelihoods, climate adaptation strategies, and Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) that build economic independence.
Survivor-Centered Justice
Providing a safe “nest” for healing — including mental health support, legal protection, and pathways to justice for survivors of violence.
Inclusive Development
Advancing Disability Justice and supporting Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) through education, protection, and care.
The OGF Ecosystem
The Leading Arm — A Survivor-Led Movement
We do not work for survivors. We are led with and by them.
The OGF Ecosystem is a dynamic network of autonomous councils, survivor forums, and grassroots alliances that shape advocacy and influence policy at county and national levels.
How It Works
Autonomous Councils
Thematic platforms — such as Disability Justice forums and Youth Alliances — operate with independent decision-making power and leadership.
Power Shifting
OGF provides institutional infrastructure. Survivors and grassroots leaders set the agenda. Those closest to the issues design the solutions.
Collective Advocacy
By uniting diverse community voices, we amplify influence and drive systemic reforms that no single organization could achieve alone.
Fiscal Hosting
The Anchoring Arm — The Institutional Backbone
Many transformative grassroots movements are excluded from funding opportunities because they lack formal registration, bank accounts, or audit history.
OGF bridges that gap.
We serve as a legal and financial home for women-led initiatives and grassroots movements aligned with our mission.
What Hosted Partners Receive
Legal Cover
Operate under OGF’s registered legal status in Kenya.
Financial Management
Professional accounting, transparent fund disbursement, and rigorous auditing systems.
Compliance & Reporting
Full donor reporting and compliance management — allowing grassroots leaders to focus on community impact.
Capacity Strengthening
Mentorship in governance, safeguarding, institutional development, and resource mobilization.
Why This Model Matters
Whether we are:
- Implementing frontline programs
- Convening survivor-led councils
- Anchoring grassroots movements
Our goal remains the same:
A just, resilient, and inclusive Kenya — where survivors lead transformation
