Our Work
Our Frontline Commitment to Action & Resilience
At Open Gate Foundation (OGF) Kenya, we don’t just advocate for change—we deliver it. While our Ecosystem focuses on leadership and our Fiscal Hosting focuses on support, our Directly Implemented Programs are the heart of our frontline work. These are high-impact initiatives managed directly by the OGF team to ensure the highest standards of accountability and professional service delivery.
- Resilience & Humanitarian Relief
When crisis hits, we are on the ground. We provide immediate support while building long-term healing.
Emergency Response & Disaster Risk Reduction
We provide rapid-response humanitarian aid to communities facing climate shocks, floods, or displacement.
- Our Focus: Food security, clean water, and emergency shelter in underserved regions in Kenya.
Mental Health & Trauma Healing
Physical aid isn’t enough; we believe in “Healing the Whole Person.” We provide specialized psychosocial support for survivors of violence and conflict.
- Our Approach: Safe spaces, survivor support groups, and professional counseling to help individuals reclaim their lives.
- Economic Justice & Inclusion
Breaking the cycle of poverty through community-led financial systems.
SILC (Savings and Internal Lending Communities)
Our signature economic model. We train women and youth to form their own “private banks,” allowing them to save money and take small loans to start businesses.
- The Impact: 100% community-owned, zero interest to outside banks, and total financial independence for rural households.
Digital Inclusion & Agribusiness
We bridge the digital divide by equipping youth and women with tech skills and sustainable farming techniques.
- The Goal: Preparing the next generation for the modern economy through vocational training and climate-smart agriculture.
- 3. The Next Generation Pillar
Investing in the rights and futures of children and persons with disabilities.
OVC (Orphans & Vulnerable Children) Support
We provide holistic care for children who have lost parents or live-in extreme poverty. This includes education, healthcare, and nutritional support.
- Get Involved: [Sponsor a Child Today] – Your monthly support can change a life.
Inclusive & Special Needs Education
We work to ensure that children with disabilities are not hidden away but are included in schools and community life.
- Our Work: Providing assistive devices, training teachers on inclusion, and advocating for accessible learning environments.
How These Programs Connect to Our Ecosystem
Our programs are not “handouts”—they are “hand-ups.”
- A woman in our SILC Program may eventually join our Climate Council to lead advocacy.
- A child in our OVC Program is mentored to become a future leader in the Kenya Youth Alliance.
- Our Direct Programs provide the data and proof we use to advocate for policy change at the national level.
