The Transition Pathway
How We Grow Together: Our Pathway to Independence
The Message: At Open Gate Foundation, our goal isn’t to hold onto partners forever. We want to see grassroots initiatives grow, become strong, and eventually lead themselves. We follow a simple three-step journey to move from “hosting” to “independence.”
Step 1: The OGF-Led Stage (Incubation)
- What happens: When a new idea or a small group first joins us, they sit directly under our umbrella.
- Our Support: We provide the bank account, the legal name, and the office space. We handle 100% of the paperwork so the project can get off the ground.
Step 2: The Council-Led Stage (Mentorship)
- What happens: As the group grows, they join one of our Thematic Councils (like Mazingira or Voice of Freedom).
- Our Support: They begin to make their own decisions and lead their own activities, while still using OGF for financial management and expert advice.
Step 3: The Partner-Owned Stage (Independence)
- What happens: The Gate is now fully open. The partner has their own systems, their own team, and their own direct funding.
- Our Support: They graduate from being hosted by us. They become an independent ally. We no longer manage them; instead, we work beside them as equals.

Case Study: The Jasiri Dada Initiative
Protecting the Brave: A Journey of Silent Transformation
The Story of Partnership:
The Jasiri Dada Initiative is a survivor-led movement working in high-risk zones across Meru, Tharaka Nithi,Embu,Laikipia, Isiolo, and neighboring counties. Their mission is delicate: rescuing and restoring dignity to adolescent girls trapped in sex exploitation. Because their work is intentionally low-profile to protect survivors, they needed a partner who could provide a “strong shield” of governance.
How the Pathway Works for Jasiri Dada:
- Phase 1: The Protective Shield (Incubation) When Jasiri Dada began its silent revolution, Open Gate Foundation stepped in as the Fiscal Sponsor. We provided the legal framework and financial oversight, allowing the Jasiri Dada team to stay focused on their life-saving outreach in red-light zones without the risk of administrative exposure.
- Phase 2: The Sisterhood Circle (Mentorship) As they grew to reach over 5,800 girls, Jasiri Dada joined our Voice of Freedom Council. Here, they share strategic guidance with other survivor-led groups in our ecosystem. Open Gate ensures that every shilling donated to them is managed with total transparency and strict confidentiality protocols.
- Phase 3: Sustainable Impact (Independence) Jasiri Dada is moving toward a future where their survivor-led model is a blueprint for the region. Open Gate continues to handle the Institutional Backbone—the reporting and compliance—so that Jasiri Dada can remain a “discreet sanctuary” for those seeking a way out.
Why We Host This Work
Dignity beyond Visibility
We don’t publish photos of these survivors. We don’t share their names. Our partnership with Jasiri Dada is built on a sacred trust. By providing the fiscal and legal home for this initiative, Open Gate Foundation ensures that Hope blooms in the shadows while the girls find their way back to school, health, and safety.”
Notice: To protect the identities of our survivors and mentors, OGF handles all inquiries for Jasiri Dada through our secure, vetted channels.
